John A. Serrano

Mr. Serrano is currently the Superintendent of the Maryland School for the Deaf. A graduate of Gallaudet University in Washington, D.C., he started his teaching career at the Texas School for the Deaf as an elementary teacher before working in multiple positions, including the Director of Academic Affairs. He also worked as the Superintendent of the Atlanta Area School for the Deaf (AASD) and the Executive Director of Undergraduate Admissions at Gallaudet University.

Mr. Serrano has served on various committees related to Deaf Education, and is a board member currently serving on two boards- the Conference of Educational Administrators of Schools and Programs for the Deaf (CEASD) and the American School for the Deaf (ASD). He resides in Gaithersburg with his wife and their three children.
